The Gift of Self

Ein Workshop mit Tommy Thompson

The human organism, when working well, provides a sense of physical and emotional ease, resulting in an integrated, interconnected experience of conscious awareness of who we are relative to what we do. When we impede this natural functioning through our unconscious commitment to habit and who we think we need to be to be us, we lose this potentiality. My approach to teaching over the past 36 years has been to place as the core focus this potential of ones authentic sense of self.

I am always aware of working with the person’s potentiality, rather than working with their “habit of use” in any negative sense. No matter how deeply rooted the habitual patterns of behavior are in someone, there is always more to the person than their habits reflect; (perhaps even) for example who they truly are, or certainly wish to be.  To move through life having access to the availability of a fluid sense of identity is simply more practical than being confined to a fixed sense of identity.

The workshop will consist of hands-on work individually and collectively, with exercises designed to give the person a way of working with themself outside of the workshop.
